Welcome this summer in my beautiful house, an old and restored quinta (traditional farm) with a lot of free land. The quinta is over 300 years old and breathes the peaceful atmosphere of nature and long ago. You will not find a blue swimming pool here, but you will find a private natural lake a 3-minute walk away in nature. The quinta is 10 minutes from Lagos and the beach in the lovely Algarve in Portugal.
From the end of June to the end of September I will be in the Netherlands and my house is for rent, suitable for 6-8 people.
The house of about 230 m2 consists of:
- dwelling space: 4 living areas with open connection, 66 m2 in total, consisting of:
- spacious entrance/office,
- dining room,
- play/study room and sitting room
Besides that we have 3 bedrooms:
- master bedroom 20 m2 with double bed, adjoining bathroom with bath and shower
- bedroom 16 m2 with double bed and patio doors to private terrace
- bedroom 12 m2 with a single bed + a single sofa bed downstairs and a loft 5 m2 with a double bed
Furthermore the house consists of 2 bathrooms: 1 adjacent to the master bedroom and 1 separate in the hall, + 1 toilet on the veranda
In addition, a spacious kitchen 18 m2 (induction hob and electric oven), opening onto a veranda of 22.5 m2, a lovely place to eat and work, with a beautiful view of the hills and sunset.
The house has underfloor heating and floor cooling and has a pleasant temperature all year round, partly due to the thick natural stone walls.
I love about the place: the quiet, untouched, special atmosphere, old, trees, space, basic, natural..
I ask my guests to live sustainably with respectful use of land, house, materials and use natural cleaning and personal care products …
On the 9 hectare site you will find a small lake for swimming, a mountain, cork and holm oaks, palm, olive and eucalyptus trees, with their wonderful scent after a rain shower. Beautiful sunset and view of the surroundings. The whole year around flowers are blooming: bougainvillea, roses, oleander, lantana, hibiscus, orange and others of which I do not know the name yet. A wealth of wildflowers, especially in spring. I just discovered the tiny orchids on land.
And there is a vegetable garden and an orchard with all kinds of fruit trees, still young!
There are charming villages and routes for walking and cities nearby, such as Lagos at 10 km, which is a lovely city with beautiful beaches and a cozy old town.
You can go swimming in the small lake on the property (3 minutes walk), the large reservoir (5 minutes drive, also a nice walk) and of course in the sea (10 minutes drive).
A bus stop is nearby at 200 m (Odiaxere is at 4 km).
Many courses and workshops are available all year round and nearby, there are communities nearby that offer fun programs such as contact dance improvisation, sweat lodge and others.
We have chickens, geese and 2 friendly dogs (1 with me to the Netherlands).
A grounds guard and caretaker (Rui) is living on the property, available for troubleshooting in case of emergency.

Prices and reservation

The above prices per week apply for a stay of up to 6 people. For an extra person € 70 per week is due. This amount includes water, electricity and respectful use of the house and grounds, it doesn’t include linen, guarantee-deposit and endcleaning. Endcleaning of €75 is obligatory. Extra cleaning on your request during your stay will be charged at €15 per hour.
Guarantee-deposit of €350 is obligatory and will be refunded within 2 weeks after leaving. In case of damage or use of extra linen, the relevant amount will be deducted.
Linen €10 p.p. at a time (sheets €5 and towels €5), kitchen linen €10 at a time (3 towels, 3 tea towels, 3 cloths). Please inform us if you will bring your own linen or if you want to use ours. If you use more than 1 package per person of our linen, please make a note, so we can settle it with the deposit.
In case of cancellation up to 4 weeks before arrival date, 25% of the total invoice amount is due, in case of cancellation up to 2 weeks before arrival date this is 50%, in case of later cancellation 100% of the total invoice amount is due.
If desired, various forms of guidance are possible, such as craniosacral therapy, sound healing, family constellation and coaching. This only applies when I stay at the quinta, not when I rent out the entire house, because then I am in the Netherlands, on the Erve. Individual retreats are possible all year round, either in the Netherlands, usually in the summer months, or at the quinta.
